Overview
The Normal Blood Donor pool is open to all healthy individuals in the Scripps community who are readily available during working hours. Notices are published regularly in Scripps in-house publications to recruit employee/donors from under-represented minorities.
All eligible donors are screened for infectious diseases prior to enrolling in the program, as well as yearly after that. The Annual Donor Screen consists of:
- CBC Complete Blood Count to test for anemia
- HBag Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
- HCV Hepatitis C Antibody
- HIV HIV-1 Antibody Screen with Reflex to Western Blot Confirmation
The HTLV I/II Antibody by EIA test is available at an additional charge to the Principal Investigator.
